BESKRIVELSE:
In a gas station the roof is a key feature.

It is commonly built with a light structure that provides a wide area of protection from the climate conditions. The roof also becomes an icon and a support to display the identification of the service facilities. It makes them recognizable from the distance.

We have set the roof as a continuous structure that creates a guideline to organize the entire complex; a frame under which the different functions can be delimited by the different materials: glass, brick, panel, wood, etc.

The typical roof structure of a gas station is transformed by slopes and angles as an adaptation to Norway climate conditions, generating an interesting display of geometry in its design.

The idea is to produce a service station with a more dynamic and attractive image, playing with its common features and its traditional construction system.

BESKRIVELSE:
The shapes defined by the roof on the building that we are presenting, constitute the main design feature of its architectural concept, pursuing dynamism as opposite of stiffness and heaviness. The updated demands of the investor required an increase of volume from the original project as a response to the market study in order to make this investment doable.

The open public space or plaza articulates the context. It makes possible the integration of the different buildings and creates a generous space to be used. The progression in heights also takes account of the sunlight that will enter the public open areas.

The architectural context is very heterogeneous. The image of our building appeals to a very common one among this type of buildings (apartment building typology) in the modern landscape of Norway, but introduces more stylized lines and shapes that support the idea of dynamism. The shapes are the result of some geometrical operations to reinterpret the heterogeneous context and the mentioned typology and also generate situations/spaces in the top apartments along with they terraces.

BESKRIVELSE:
The desires of the client were very diverse. They were a mixture of styles and examples. Among that combination, the main ideas were that he wanted a modern looking house that would set an icon in its surroundings but based on an older scheme of a house he really liked. It also had to be to houses, one for sale and one to inhabit. The separation between them had to be clear but they have to be integrated in the same volume.
